Event

What is a Sandpit?

A sandpit is a hands-on, workshop-style research format that brings together researchers from interdisciplinary fields who have not worked together before. It’s designed to spark fresh perspectives, challenge established thinking, and generate bold, high-impact project ideas on emerging topics. It offers an open space to build castles in the sand — are you ready to dig in?

Topic

What is the Topic?

Big Data is the oil rush of the digital age, but on the horizon lies the next frontier: Big Brain Data.
Brain-computer interfaces (BCIs) capture thoughts, emotions, and cognitive states in real time, turning the human mind into a powerful data source. Already used in sectors like mining and developed by companies such as Alphabet and Apple, BCIs are moving toward everyday use. As workplaces lead adoption, urgent questions emerge about how Big Brain Data should be handled responsibly.

Research

What is the goal?

This sandpit moves beyond the question of whether companies should use BCIs, as their adoption is already underway. The focus is on how to implement them responsibly, with ethical safeguards and equitable outcomes. Together, we will collaborate on research and develop actionable frameworks to ensure BCIs enhance human potential in the workplace of 2035.
